The Aftermath and Cleanup

Wednesday I went to Lavallette with my attorney for work. We heard rt 35 was open down there and so that was our route. We had no idea what to expect of the damage from Hurricane Sandy. I brought my camera in hopes of being able to get some pictures. Once we passed Point Pleasant and Bay Head we entered Mantoloking, which is just north of Lavallette. That was the worst. I didn't take any pictures on the way there but after visiting a client at a school my attorney offered to drive so I could take pictures. Mantaloking got hit pretty hard getting the brunt of the storm. You were not allowed to stop on the side of the road or head down any side streets unless you were construction. There were cops everywhere including at the school. Gov. Christie was just at the school we visited the precious day. Here is a glimpse of what we saw.

You can see how far the sand went into these bungalow homes about 2-3 blocks from the ocean.

The house in the distance is "beachfront." You can see how much sand accumulated and they are trying to put back.

All we could say was "oh my god," "did you see that house?!" "This is horrible!" Many house front doors had an X spray painted on them in different colors for different reasons. In the school we visited only 20 kids had returned home. The rest were still displaced along with teachers. They are rebuilding homes they thought they would be able to go back into but instead needed to be torn down completely. Hopefully they can rebuild our shores better and in hopes of preventing future disasters.

V Day

Today was just another day. Traffic to and from work, busy cases, staff meeting blah blah blah. I come home to my 2 Valentines and have a delicious meal, which was what Tyler made for me the very first time he ever cooked for me.

This girl was not expecting anything more but was presented with some wonderful surprises!

I couldn't have asked for more from the men I love more than anything.

First Snowball Fight

Tube Ride

First Walk in Snow

A First 2+ Years Later

Today Dylan had a first we never thought would take this long. It was his first experience with snow. Amazing that we've had snow but nothing worth playing in and the times we've been to Vermont without snow.

It was freezing cold but Dylan got a chance to play a little and get a feel for the snow.

Barclays Center

Yes it's 1:15am and I got home about 10 min ago from attending the Brooklyn Nets v LA Lakers basketball game in Brooklyn with my friend Alisa. Even though Ty was home he wasn't feeling well enough to go and just wanted me to go and have fun. So I did! These were the tickets he got me for Christmas and I've been dying to go to see the new arena. It was amazing!

It was her first basketball game. I've been to quite a few as I used to get free tickets for Nets games in college because I received a scholarship from them. We both had a great time even though the Nets lost. Cant thank my wonderful loving husband enough for the awesome tickets!!! Bought me a new sweatshirt & Dylan a t-shirt. On another good note, Dylan is NOT allergic to anything, but we are sticking to a dairy free diet for him.

4th Cut

Today I took Dylan to get another haircut, his 4th go be exact. His hair was covering his eyes & getting too long in the back. He was starting to get the hippie look. His hair grows like a weed and as fast as Daddy's. I went to the kid place but found out the closed down so I headed to JC Penny.

This was last night.

I was soo impressed and proud of our little guy! He cried going in, but not a peep during the cut! He sat on my lap to make it more comfortable and played on the iPad. He was such a good boy I took him to toys r us for a treat - a couple cars & a Melissa & Doug puzzle.
